The system comprises a pop-up driving mechanism which is connected with a safety air bag and used for correcting the inflation volume of the safety air bag popped up next time based on the received overall representative depth of field, and a layout discrimination structure, and the layout discrimination structure is used for taking a to-be-processed area closer to the central position of the second enhanced image in each to-be-processed area as a reference area, acquiring each depth of field of each pixel of the second enhanced image occupied by the reference area, and taking an intermediate value of each depth of field as a whole to represent the depth of field to be outputted. The invention further relates to a self-adaptive safety air bag driving method. The self-adaptive safety air bag driving system and method are safe, reliable and wide in application. The self-adaptive safety airbag ejection control strategy can be formulated based on the current relative position of the driver to the steering wheel, so excessive extrusion to the driver is avoided while the safety airbag ejection effect is ensured.
