The invention discloses a system and method for preventing automobile rear-end collision. The system comprises a laser distance measuring sensor, an automobile storage battery, a GPS module, an embedded microprocessor, a voice module, a display screen and a wireless communication module which are installed on an automobile. The laser ranging sensor and the GPS module are connected with the input end of the embedded microprocessor, and the voice module, the display screen and the wireless communication module are connected with the output end of the embedded microprocessor. The system can solve the problems that a driver has errors in visual vehicle distance measurement and violates traffic rules in the driving process, improves the driving safety, and has the characteristics of being convenient to install, simple in structure and good in implementation effect.
