The invention relates to a machine-room-less elevator transformation method and a machine-room-less elevator . The method comprises the following steps of removing a top hanging wheel at the top of anelevator shaft, and installing a new traction machine at an original position of the top hanging wheel; and disassembling an old traction machine in a shaft pit, and installing the top hanging wheelin the shaft pit to form a pit diversion sheave. Due to the fact that the new traction machine is arranged at the top of the elevator shaft, even if rainwater leaks into the shaft pit in rainstorm weather, the accumulated rainwater cannot make contact with and immerse the new traction machine, the traction machine cannot be soaked in the rainwater, safe and reliable work can be guaranteed all thetime, the maintenance cost caused by bubble damage can be saved, and meanwhile, the normal operation of the machine-room-less elevator can be ensured.
