The invention discloses a signal self-adaptive control method based on a variable lane. The signal self-adaptive control method comprises the following steps of 1) collecting intersection data in realtime; 2) identifying an overflow state of the intersection, and judging whether overflow emergency processing is executed or not; if not, entering the step 3); if so, entering an overflow emergency disposal mode, generating an emergency timing scheme, and entering a step 6); 3) identifying the lane variable state, and judging whether to execute variable lane control or not; if so, entering step 4); if not, entering the step 5); 4) executing lane changing control, and entering the step 5); 5) entering the adaptive control mode, updating the lane attributes of the intersection, and generating the adaptive timing scheme; and 6) implementing the above generated adaptive timing scheme. According to the method, the adaptive capacity of the intersection for coping with sudden changes of trafficflow is enhanced, the space-time resource utilization rate of the intersection is increased, intersection delay is reduced, and road traffic congestion is relieved.
