The invention relates to a detection method for a round opening of an air inlet of an airplane. A detection device comprises an outer shape clamping board and an inner shape detection clamping board,wherein an inner shape surface of the outer shape clamping board is matched with an outer shape surface of the air inlet of the air plane, an outer shape surface of the inner shape detection clampingboard is matched with an inner shape surface of the air inlet of the airplane, the inner shape detection clamping board is fixed in the outer shape clamping board, equally spaced annular gaps exist between the outer shape clamping board and the outer shape surface of the inner shape detection clamping board, and the outer shape surface of the inner shape detection clamping board is a round reference surface. The detection method comprises the following steps of fixing the air inlet of the air plane to a fixture; inserting the round opening of the air inlet of the airplane into the annular gapsbetween the outer shape clamping board and the inner shape detection clamping board; and measuring a radial gap value between the round reference surface of the inner shape detection clamping board and the inner shape surface of the air inlet of the air plane to judge whether the round opening of the air inlet of the airplane is qualified or not according to the gap value.
