The invention relates to a flapping wing air vehicle. According to the flapping wing air vehicle, the flapping wing air vehicle comprises a vehicle body extending along a longitudinal axis of the flapping wing air vehicle; a transmission mechanism which is arranged on the left side or the right side of the vehicle body; a power source which is arranged on the side, opposite to the transmission mechanism, of the vehicle body and provides power for the transmission mechanism; flying wings which are connected with the transmission mechanism and are driven by the transmission mechanism to swing from the left side or the right side of the vehicle; and a steering mechanism which is connected with the vehicle body so as to control the steering of the flapping wing air vehicle. Compared with the prior art, the flying wings of the flapping wing air vehicle are only driven to flap up and down from one side and thus the transmission mechanism of the flapping wing air vehicle is simpler in structure and lighter in overall weight, and the purpose of light weight of the flapping-wing air vehicle can be achieved while stable and flexible flight of the flapping-wing air vehicle is guaranteed.
