The hybrid power system comprises an engine, a hydraulic mechanical continuously variable transmission, a motor, a drive axle and tires, the engine, the hydraulic mechanical continuously variable transmission, the motor and the drive axle are sequentially connected, and the tires are connected to two ends of the drive axle. According to the hybrid power system, the engine, the hydraulic mechanical continuously variable transmission and the motor are connectedin sequence, the optimal working point of the engine can be set through the hydraulic mechanical continuously variable transmission, constant-speed rotation is achieved, and oil consumption is reduced. Compared with a double-motor hybrid power system, the system of the invention has the following advantages: the motor does not participate in decoupling adjustment of the vehicle speed and the rotating speed of the engine, the control strategy is simple, and the control difficulty of the motor is reduced.
