The invention discloses an electric quantity management control method and device for a hybrid electric vehicle, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining the distance between a departure place and a destination of a vehicle, a driving road condition, and geographical position information; then calculating electric quantity management control information according to the obtained distance between the departure place and the destination of the vehicle, the driving road condition and the geographical position information, and the electric quantity management control information comprising the predicted driving mileage of the vehicle and the real-time pure electric driving mileage; selecting an electric quantity management mode according to the electric quantity management control information and the real-time running state of the vehicle; and finally, adjusting a capability control strategy of the vehicle according to the selected electric quantity management mode. According to the method, the electric quantity of the power battery can be intelligently planned according to the pre-acquired information such as the distance between the departure place and the destination of the vehicle, the driving road condition and the geographic position information, and the fuel economy is ensured while the dynamic property of the hybrid electric vehicle is ensured.
