The invention discloses an anti-collision device of a tower type tower crane and an operation method. The device comprises a crane supporting rod, a crane rotating rod arranged on the top of the cranesupporting rod and a crane boom fixedly connected to the top of the crane rotating rod, wherein a mounting frame A is fixedly mounted in the middle of the crane rotating rod, a hoisting motor is mounted on the upper end face of the mounting frame A, a wire winder is mounted at a rotating shaft, a hook is connected with the wire winder through a steel cable, a connecting block is arranged above the hook and is kept connected with the steel cable, a pair of sensors are fixedly mounted on the upper end face of the connecting block, a warning lamp is mounted on the upper end face of the crane supporting rod, and the sensors, the warning lamp, the crane rotating rod and the hoisting motor are electrically connected with an external control device. The anti-collision device of the tower type tower crane and the operation method thereof have reasonable design and can effectively avoid collision of the crane and give a warning.
