The invention relates to a braking method and device applied to adaptive cruise and a vehicle. Heat energy generated in the deceleration braking process can be recycled, and energy is saved. The method includes the steps of receiving an acceleration request, wherein the acceleration request is based on the speed of a preceding vehicle tracked by adaptive cruise; determining whether the vehicle needs to be accelerated or decelerated currently based on the acceleration request; and under the condition that it is determined that the vehicle needs to be decelerated currently, distributing the acceleration included in the acceleration request between hydraulic braking and motor energy recovery based on the energy recovery capacity of a motor of the vehicle and the current vehicle speed of the vehicle.
