The invention discloses a single trailing arm type electric control suspension system and a control method thereof and belongs to the field of electric control suspension. The system comprises a frame, driving wheels and a single trailing arm assembly, wherein the driving wheels are connected with the frame through the single trailing arm assembly, the single trailing arm assembly comprises a trailing arm, a first support seat, a torsion bar spring, an electric actuator connecting frame, a torsion bar spring adjusting electric actuator and a second support seat. The system is advantaged in that rigidity of the suspension and the height of a vehicle body are changed by changing a fixing angle of a torsion rod spring, so requirements for smoothness and operation stability under various working conditions are met, during obstacle crossing, through cooperation of an electric control system, an angle of a longitudinal arm is changed to assist the driving wheels in crossing obstacles so as to improve trafficability of a mobile platform.
