The invention relates to a charging method (100) for an electrical energy store (22) of a motor vehicle (20), comprising the following steps: detecting (110) a current state of charge of the electrical energy store (22); detecting (120) a planned range of use of the motor vehicle (20); determining (130) an ambient temperature present during the planned use; determining (140) a target state of charge of the electrical energy store as a function of the maximum possible state of charge and the detected ambient temperature; generating (150) a signal as a function of the determined target state ofcharge; and transmitting the generated signal to a charging current controller (28, 48) and/or an output device (17).
