A unfolding device and method for a floating platform provided by the application are used between a first buoyancy tank and a second buoyancy tank of the floating platform. The unfolding device comprises a twisting mechanism arranged between the first buoyancy tank and the second buoyancy tank, wherein a torsion shaft is arranged between the two end parts of the twisting mechanism; one end of thetorsion shaft is fixed to the first buoyancy tank; and the other end of the torsion shaft abuts against the second buoyancy tank in the working process. The unfolding method comprises that firstly, the twisting mechanism is installed between the first buoyancy tank and the second buoyancy tank; secondly, the first buoyancy tank and the second buoyancy tank are folded along the twisting mechanismand fastened after being folded, and the two buoyancy tanks are folded to force the torsion device to twist and store force; and finally, the folded first buoyancy tank and second buoyancy tank are released, so that the two buoyancy tanks are automatically unfolded along the twisting mechanism. The floating platform is unfolded and released without external driving force by utilizing the folding and force storage of the twisting mechanism on the floating platform, and the effects of high unfolding efficiency, low energy consumption, less labor consumption, short time consumption, low error rate, long service life and high safety of the floating platform are achieved.
