The invention concerns a system for generating electrical energy (20) for an aircraft (10) comprising an aerodynamic fairing (21) enclosing at least one turbine (22) housed in the front portion (21a) of the fairing (21) and an electric energy generator (23) linked to said turbine. The front portion (21a) of the fairing (21) is equipped with air inlet means (26) that are movable between an open position in which the turbine (22) is exposed to the flow of air outside the fairing (21) and a closed position in which the turbine (22) is shielded inside the fairing (21). The invention helps to reduce the aerodynamic drag usually created by vortices present at the wing tip in the case of a standard wing with smooth edges during the take-off, ascent and cruising phases and to recover, during the descent phases, the kinetic and potential energy accumulated by the aircraft during the ascent and cruising phases.
