The invention discloses an electronic fence-based monitoring method and a system. According to the method, the start point of a monitoring object is marked on an electronic map, and a corresponding electronic fence is arranged on the electronic map according to the start point. After that, the position information of the monitoring target is acquired, and whether the monitoring target gets out of the preset range of the electronic fence or not can be judged according to the position information of the monitoring target. If the monitoring target gets out of the preset range of the electronic fence, a supervisor of the monitoring target is reminded of the situation. According to the technical scheme of the invention, when the monitoring target gets out of the preset range of the electronic fence or gets into the preset range of the electronic fence, the supervisor of the monitoring target is reminded of the situation at the first time. Therefore, the supervisor can conveniently find out the position of the monitoring target. Meanwhile, for various types of electronic fences, the centralized monitoring requirements of most client bases in different application scenarios can be met and the application range of the system is expanded.
