The invention provides an energy prediction based energy management method of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. The method comprises the following steps: vehicle running route information is transmitted to a remote monitoring platform; the remote monitoring platform calculates out road vehicle weather data; the remote monitoring platform transmits the road vehicle weather data to a hybrid control unit (HCU); the HCU obtains state of charge (SOC) of a storage battery through a CAN bus; the energy demand of a vehicle running condition section is predicted through a neural network; a SOC reference trajectory is planned online; the automatic tracing optimal equivalence factor of the SOC reference trajectory is calculated out; the demand power of the vehicle and the current speed of the vehicle are calculated out; the optimal control vector is calculated out according to table look-up based on principle of minimum; all power sources in a hybrid power system are ordered so as to realize energy optimization control. Through the method disclosed by the invention, the approximate energy optimization control of the hybrid electric vehicle is realized, and the method has the characteristics of being self-adapted to conditions, good in economy, and easy to realize on actual vehicles.
