The invention provides an escalator stampede accident prevention system, and belongs to the technical field of elevator safety design. The escalator stampede accident prevention system comprises a power supply, a sudden stop controller, a motor, a wire harness, infrared monitors and a thermal image analyzer. The power supply, the sudden stop controller and the motor are all arranged below an escalator. Escalator steps are driven by the motor to run. The first infrared monitors are symmetrically arranged on an escalator exit plate. The second infrared monitors are symmetrically arranged on escalator armrest plates. In the escalator stampede accident prevention system, the sudden stop controller can judge the crowdedness degree of people at the exit of the escalator according to the monitored situations of the first infrared monitors; when personnel crowdedness or stampede accidents happen at the exit, the sudden stop controller controls the motor to stop running in time. The escalator stampede accident prevention system is reasonable in design, simple in structure and suitable for optimization design of escalator crowdedness or stampede accident loss reduction systems.
