The invention discloses a stroke-reduced two-way automatic speed limiting system. A rope wheel is assembled on the main shaft; a ratchet pawl is rotationally assembled on one side of the wheel surface of the rope wheel; a ratchet pawl torsional spring enabling the ratchet pawl to steer a ratchet wheel to clamp the ratchet wheel with a clamping groove of the ratchet wheel is arranged between the ratchet pawl and the rope wheel; a ratchet pawl positioning structure is also rotationally assembled on the wheel surface of the rope wheel; a disk is coaxially and fixedly arranged on the wheel surface, away from gravity hammers, of the ratchet wheel; self-resetting switches are distributed on the peripheral part of the disk, and are positioned on the circumference of a concentric circle of the disk; levers of the self-resetting switches stretch inwards; the free ends of the lever are respectively positioned on the circumferences of a group of concentric circles of the disk; the gravity hammers touch the self-resetting switches in sequence in the stretching process. According to the stroke-reduced two-way automatic speed limiting system, under the condition that the top space and the bottom space of an elevator of a corresponding building does not need to be additionally enlarged, and the cost of a bumper does not need to be increased, the purpose of adopting the elevator with relatively high speed can be realized.
