The invention provides a differential variable-amplitude flapping wing driving mechanism and a driving method. The differential variable-amplitude flapping wing driving mechanism comprises a stander (1), a motor (2), a speed reduction gear group (3), a flapping rod group (4), an amplitude adjustment rod group (5) and a steering engine group. The differential variable-amplitude flapping wing driving mechanism has the advantages that (1) the differential variable-amplitude flapping wing driving mechanism is higher in reliability and easy to maintain; when the flapping amplitudes of a left rocker arm and a right rocker arm are adjusted, the rotating angles of steering engines on the two sides are only needed to be controlled, so that the actual operation is simple and can be continuously/steadily finished; the flapping amplitude adjustment range is large, and the differential adjustment effect is obvious; (2) a left amplitude adjustment subsystem and a right amplitude adjustment system work independently, and the states of the left amplitude adjustment subsystem and the right amplitude adjustment system can be independently controlled, so that flexible control on the flapping amplitudes of the left rocker arm and the right rocker arm is realized, and the flying performance of an airplane is improved; (3) the differential variable-amplitude flapping wing driving mechanism is compact in structure, light in weight, small in size, high in output power and suitable for being applied to a micro flapping wing aircraft.
