The invention discloses an elevator capable of being prevented from fast descending during stalling. The elevator comprises ropes, a rope fixing platform, a car, a traction machine and a balancing weight. The car comprises a car box and pulleys, a speed measuring encoder and a controller are arranged at the top of the car box, an air charging device is arranged below the car box, and each pulley is matched with the two ropes and comprises a first rope groove and a second rope groove parallel to the first rope groove. A plurality of ball grooves are formed in the first rope grooves and the second rope grooves, balls are arranged in the ball grooves, polymerization matter layers are arranged on the surfaces of the balls, an annular air bag containing cavity is formed between the pulleys, and communicated with the ball grooves through a plurality of air bag sub-cavities, air bags are arranged in the annular air bag containing cavities, the air bags extend to the bottoms of the ball grooves through the air bag sub-cavities, and the air bags are connected with the air charging device. Therefore, the safety performance of the elevator can be greatly improved.
