The invention relates to a method for intelligently detecting safety of an elevator. The method comprises the steps that (1), the intelligent safety elevator based on speed detection is provided, and the elevator comprises a drag and traction steel wire rope, a speed detection instrument and an air bag control center, wherein the drag and traction steel wire rope is used for dragging and guiding a lift car of the elevator, the speed detection instrument is connected with the drag and traction steel wire rope and is used for determining the lifting speed of the lift car according to changes of the drag and traction length of the drag and traction steel wire rope, and the air bag control center is connected with the speed detection instrument and is used for determining whether an air bag in the lift car is opened or not on the basis of the lifting speed; and (2), the elevator runs. Through the method, under the condition that the lifting speed of the elevator is abnormal, the air bag in the lift car can be automatically opened so as to protect safety of personnel in the elevator car.
