The invention discloses a hydraulic bidirectional safety gear for an elevator. The hydraulic bidirectional safety gear for the elevator comprises an installation base (1). Two fixing blocks (2) are symmetrically arranged in the installation base (1). A bidirectional brake pad (4) is connected to each fixing block (2) through an inverted-V-shaped slope (3). An upper linkage piece (6) and a lower linkage piece (7) are connected to the tops of the bidirectional brake pads and the bottoms of the bidirectional brake pads (4) through bosses (5) respectively. Kidney-shaped holes (8) are formed in the positions, corresponding to the bosses (5), of the upper linkage piece (6) and the lower linkage piece (7) respectively. A bidirectional hydraulic cylinder (9) is connected to one ends of the upper linkage piece (6) and the lower linkage piece (7), and a bidirectional hydraulic cylinder (9) is connected to the other ends of the upper linkage piece (6) and the lower linkage piece (7). Oil delivery pipes (10) are connected to the upper end and the lower end of each bidirectional hydraulic cylinder (9) respectively. According to the hydraulic bidirectional safety gear for the elevator, bidirectional braking can be achieved, and the braking effect, the transmission stability, the safety and the braking force are improved; the hydraulic bidirectional safety gear for the elevator further has the advantage of being convenient to mount.
