The invention provides a mode control system and method for a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle direct current converter. The mode control system comprises an integration power control unit, a whole vehicle control unit and a high-voltage battery management unit; the integration power control unit is in communication connection with the whole vehicle control unit and the high-voltage battery management unit; and the integration power control unit enables a direct current converter to be switched between an invalid mode and an enabled mode according to control commands of the whole vehicle control unit and the high-voltage battery management unit and state signals of a high-voltage relay, and judges whether emergency releasing is carried out or not. By means of the system, effective mode control over the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle direct current converter can be carried out, the complex working condition requirement of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle is met, and the working safety and the working reliability of the direct current converter are effectively guaranteed.
