The invention provides a photovoltaic electric vehicle which comprises a vehicle body, wherein the vehicle body is internally provided with storage batteries and a motor; the storage batteries are connected with the motor; a supporting rack is arranged on the vehicle body; photovoltaic panels are arranged at the top of the supporting rack, and are connected with the storage batteries; the photovoltaic panels are horizontally laid at the top of the supporting rack; the number of the photovoltaic panels is at least two; the photovoltaic panels are sequentially connected in series; the number of the storage batteries is also at least two; the storage batteries are also sequentially connected in series; and a positive wiring terminal and a negative wiring terminal of the photovoltaic panels which are connected in series are respectively connected with a positive wiring terminal and a negative wiring terminal of the storage batteries which are connected in series. The photovoltaic electric vehicle overcomes the defects in the prior art; the solar photovoltaic panels are used to provide electric energy for the travelling of the photovoltaic electric vehicle; the stroke limitation of the photovoltaic electric vehicle is far less than that of the conventional electric vehicle; no frequent charging is required; and the photovoltaic electric vehicle is simple and convenient to operate.
