The invention discloses a torque increasing braking device of a self-excitation type retarder. The torque increasing braking device comprises a storage battery, the self-excitation retarder, a main breaker, a control unit, a pedal travel sensor, a storage battery switch controller, a torque sensor and a temperature sensor. The storage battery is connected with the self-excitation retarder through the storage battery switch controller, and the control unit is connected with the pedal travel sensor, the storage battery switch controller, the torque sensor, the temperature sensor, the self-excitation retarder and the main breaker through an I/O port. According to the torque increasing braking device of the self-excitation type retarder, the power supply through self-excitation self power generation and power supply through the storage battery are conducted at the same time so that the vehicle braking effect can be effectively improved, and the purpose of saving energy is achieved.
