The invention provides a serial-parallel connection switching control algorithm for a serial-parallel hybrid power system. The algorithm comprises the following steps, not in sequence, that 1, when the system is in a series mode, the vehicle speed is higher than V0, the vehicle demand torque T is larger than the lowest demand torque T1 of an engine for participating in driving, the duration time is S1, and then the series mode is switched to a parallel mode; 2, when the system is in the parallel mode, a driver loosens an accelerator or steps a brake, the system is still in the parallel mode, when the vehicle speed is lower than V0 and the duration time is S2, the parallel mode is switched to the series mode, and when the vehicle speed is higher than V1, the demand torque is smaller than T2, and the duration time is S3, the parallel mode is switched to the series mode. According to the serial-parallel connection switching control algorithm for the serial-parallel hybrid power system, the operating point of the engine is optimized, and the better economical effect is achieved.
