A hybrid vehicle (100) according to the present invention includes an engine (150), a power storage device (110), a motor generator (135), and an ECU (300). The motor generator receives electric power from the power storage device and generates travel driving force. The ECU selects one of a CD mode and a CS mode to cause the vehicle to travel, in the CD mode an SOC of the power storage device being consumed, in the CS mode the SOC being maintained within a prescribed range. The CS mode includes a first CS mode and a second CS mode, the first CS mode being selected when the SOC decreases to a prescribed amount, the second CS mode being selected based on a user's intention. A second prescribed range corresponding to the second CS mode is set to be wider than a first prescribed range corresponding to the first CS mode.
