The invention relates to the technical field of electric locomotives, particularly to an automatic direction changing device for an electric locomotive. The automatic direction changing device can automatically change running directions under the situations that pantographs are not lowered, main circuit breakers are kept closed, and auxiliary sets, such as split-phase motors and air compressors, continuously work, so that the phenomenon that on bad-weather days, such as misty days or snowy days, when the electric locomotive raises or lowers the pantographs so as to change the running direction, flashover occurs on high-voltage equipment on a locomotive roof, and a network is cut off can be effectively avoided, and the shunting efficiency of the electric locomotive can be improved. The automatic direction changing device comprises a main machine and an auxiliary machine, wherein the main machine is connected with the auxiliary machine through an RS485 bus; each of the main machine and the auxiliary machine comprises a start switch, a stop switch, a processor, an LCD display screen and a relay, wherein each start switch, each stop switch, each LCD display screen and each relay are separately connected with the corresponding processor; each relay is connected with the corresponding pantograph, the corresponding main circuit breaker, the corresponding split-phase motor and the corresponding air compressor separately. The automatic direction changing device is mainly applied to electric locomotives.
