The invention provides a traffic light self-adaptive control method and device. The method comprises the steps that the type of each phase in a road intersection and green light initial duration of each phase in a control period are acquired; phase types comprise a coordination phase and a non-coordination phase; each ring at least comprises a coordination phase; the green light actual duration of the coordination phase in a control period is longer than or equal to the green light initial duration of the coordination phase; for a phase in the road intersection in a control period, in the green light duration of the phase, whether traffic control is carried out according to the green light initial duration of the phase is judged according to the type of the phase, the traffic flow of the phase and the position of the phase in the phase barrier; and if not, traffic control is carried out according to the green light actual duration of the phase.
