The invention provides an energy storage type traction system, which comprises a cabinet, a super capacitor, a high-voltage electrical apparatus box, a traction inverter, a traction control system and a charger, wherein the super capacitor, the high-voltage electrical apparatus box, the traction inverter, the traction control system and the charger are positioned in the cabinet, the traction control system comprises a transmission control unit and an energy storage management module, the super capacitor is connected with the input terminal of the traction inverter through the high-voltage electrical apparatus box, the output terminal of the traction inverter is connected with a traction motor, the transmission control unit is positioned inside the traction inverter and controls the traction inverter, and the energy storage management module is positioned inside the high-voltage electrical apparatus box, is connected with the super capacitor through a first separation switch, and controls the super capacitor and the charger. With the energy storage type traction system, the energy source utilization rate is improved, the traction system reliability is improved, the failure rate is reduced, and the normal operation of the vehicle is ensured.
