A ship propulsion device (1) in which a fin (6) is provided to a propeller boss cap (5) attached to the rear side of a propeller boss (2) of a screw propeller and the fin (6) is disposed the rear of the space between propeller blades (3), wherein the shape of the fin (6) is formed by creating torsion in the fin (6) so that, relative to the base (6bf-6ba) of the fin (6), a front edge part (6tf) on the distal end side (6tf-6ta) of the fin (6) is positioned rearward and a rear edge (6ta) is positioned frontward. In a ship propulsion device formed from a screw propeller in which a propeller boss cap (5) provided with fins is used, the propulsion unit is thereby made more efficient than a ship propulsion device in which a propeller boss cap (5) provided with fins and having a conventional fin shape is used, and more efficient than a ship provided with the ship propulsion device.
