The invention discloses a friction hoist tail rope replacement method. According to the method, an iron plate clamped between layers is wound by new ropes instead of wedged top ropes. In the process of winding the new ropes, iron plates are evenly placed between every two layers of ropes, wherein the iron plates are identical with a reel in length and are 6mm in thickness. When the new ropes are unwound, due to the effect of the iron plates, the upper layer of rope can not fall into gaps of the lower layer of rope, and the problem that the new ropes scratch a connection device can be avoided. By the adoption of the method, safety coefficients are improved to a great extent, and the time for unwinding the new ropes and winding the old rope is saved, it only takes 10 hours more or less to complete two tail ropes, so the halt overhaul time (18 hours more or less) is greatly shortened.
