The invention provides an electric vehicle backing and pushing control system and a control method thereof. The electric vehicle backing and pushing control system comprises a controller, a signal switching device and a motor used for driving an electric vehicle. The signal switching device is used for transmitting mode signals to the controller, and the controller is used for receiving the mode signals of the signal switching device and limiting the maximum rotation speed of the motor. Two kinds of mode signals are set for the signal switching device and include a normal running mode and a vehicle backing and pushing mode, and the controller controls the motor to work in the corresponding mode according to the mode signals received from the signal switching device. By means of the system, the electric vehicle has the vehicle backing and pushing mode in which the speed can be set, switching between the normal running mode and the vehicle backing and pushing mode can be achieved, and particularly, running safety in the vehicle backing mode and the vehicle pushing mode is guaranteed.
