The invention relates to a method for associating tyre pressure control apparatuses in a tyre pressure control system of a vehicle with the various positions at which each wheel of the vehicle is mounted. First sensors, which are firmly associated with the wheel positions, repeatedly deliver a measured value M1 that is a measure of the speed of that wheel with which the respective first sensor is associated. In each tyre pressure control apparatus, the profile of a measured variable from which it is possible to derive the speed of the associated wheel is sensed at points by means of a second sensor over a prescribed angle of rotation [phi] of the wheel on the basis of time, is subjected to low-pass filtering in a subsequent first period of time [delta]t1 and, from the filtered profile of the measured value, a second measured variable M2 is determined that is a measure of the speed or of the angular velocity of the associated wheel. At the end of a second period of time [delta]t2, the length of which is no shorter than the first period of time [delta]t1 each tyre pressure control apparatus transmits the second measured value M2 together with an identifier for the tyre pressure control apparatus to a central unit; as a result of this transmission, the central unit compares the second measured values M2 transmitted by the tyre pressure control apparatuses with the measured values M1 sensed in real time by the first sensors of all the wheels and stores the identifier of the tyre pressure control apparatus and at that wheel position at which the measured value M1 delivered by the first sensor best matches the measured value M2.
