The invention discloses a vehicle-mounted terminal for an urban intelligent public traffic system based on GPRS (general packet radio service). The vehicle-mounted terminal comprises a public bus vehicle-mounted weight detecting device and a data receiving and sending device; the public bus vehicle-mounted weight detecting device comprises a distance sensor and a first ZIGBEE module connected with the distance sensor, wherein the distance sensor is placed on a position, close to a bus body, of a steel plate spring of a bus suspension system, and used for detecting deformation amount of the steel plate spring in real time; the data receiving and sending device comprises a micro processor module as well as a second ZIGBEE module and a GPRS/GPS (global positioning system) two-in-one module which are connected with the micro processor module; the second ZIGBEE module and the first ZIGBEE module are in wireless connection; a GPS antenna and a GPRS antenna are connected onto the GPRS/GPS two-in-one module. The vehicle-mounted terminal is simple in structure, convenient to operate, capable of enabling a passenger to know the information of specific arrival time, a crowed condition in the bus, and the like, and high in practicability.
