The invention relates to methods for adjusting a mirror (12, 14) for a motor vehicle (10), in which a viewing direction (18) of a driver is detected by at least one viewing detection device (20), and it is verified whether said viewing direction (18) of the driver is directed to the mirror (12, 14). The mirror (12, 14) located in the viewing direction (18) of the driver is adjusted, this adjustment of said mirror (12, 14) located in the driver's viewing direction (18) only taking place if an actuation of an operating element (22) for adjusting the mirror (12, 14) is also detected. The invention also relates to a device for adjusting a mirror (12, 14) for a motor vehicle (10).
