The invention discloses a vehicular wheel out-of-roundness detection method which solves technical problems that an existing wheel out-of-roundness regular detection mode is low in efficiency, poor in reliability, and long in cycling time, and the out-of-roundness of a wheel in running cannot be detected. According to the vehicular wheel out-of-roundness detection method, the principle that a thin-strip-shaped light source illumination system lights the surface of a wheel in the tread normal direction, and a light section curve from a rim to the tread is formed is used as a basis. A high-speed area array CCD camera which forms a certain included angle with the light section curve shoots the light section curve formed by a light source on the wheel, shooting data are transmitted to a relay module through a wire, a single-chip microcomputer in the relay module collects the shooting data of the camera, then the data are transmitted to a locomotive operation room wirelessly through a data transfer radio, a computer processes images, wheel appearance curves are obtained, and the wheel out-of-roundness is obtained by comparing all the obtained wheel appearance curves and a standard curve.
