The embodiment of the invention discloses a method for self-adaptively on-line adjusting a vehicle speed. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring a present driving speed of a self-vehicle, a first detecting distance between the self-vehicle and a front vehicle and a second detecting distance between the self-vehicle and a rear vehicle; adopting a preset algorithm for respectively acquiring a first theoretical distance between the self-vehicle and the front vehicle and a second theoretical distance between the self-vehicle and the rear vehicle according to the present driving speed of the self-vehicle; comparing the first detecting distance with the first theoretical distance, comparing the second detecting distance with the second theoretical distance and controlling the driving speed of the self-vehicle according to comparison results. According to the embodiment of the invention, the speed of the self-vehicle and the distances between the self-vehicle and the front and rear vehicles are sampled in real time, and the speed ofthe self-vehicle is automatically adjusted through software, so that the driving safety is ensured, and the method is fit for variable driving environments and is high in flexibility.
