The invention relates to an emergency descending system of an elevator. The emergency descending system comprises a support, a pressing bar, a traction rope and an elastic piece, wherein the support is arranged in a rack and is located on a hoisting mechanism; the pressing bar is movably arranged on the support and can be in contact with a valve element of a hydraulic oil cylinder; one end part of the traction rope is connected with the pressing bar and the other end part of the traction rope stretches out of the rack; the elastic piece is located between the pressing bar and the support so that the pressing bar is reset; the traction rope is pulled towards the outer side of the rack; the pressing bar is pressed on the valve element and the elastic piece is at a deformed state; the traction rope is loosened and the elastic piece is recovered; the pressing bar is separated from the valve element; the valve element is automatically reset under the effect of losing external force. The traction rope is pulled towards the outer side of the rack, and the pressing bar is driven by the traction rope to be pressed on the valve element of the hydraulic oil cylinder so that the hydraulic oil cylinder can be retraced under an emergency condition; the descending of the elevator is finished, the operation is simple and the implementation is convenient.
