The invention relates to a lift installation in which a belt-type carrier means (5) is guided by a drive (4) across at least one deflection roller (8, 10). The deflection roller comprises an inner ring (11) and an outer ring (1) with a traction surface (15). Said belt-type carrier means loads the deflection roller in a loading direction (16, 16') that is directed substantially perpendicularly to an axis (9) of said deflection roller. The outer ring is mounted on the inner ring so as to be moveable in the axial direction in such a manner that when the loading direction is altered by an angle a, the outer ring likewise tilts substantially at this angle a, and as a result the perpendicular alignment of the loading direction relative to the traction surface remains substantially preserved.
