A computer-implemented method for predicting a battery failure or a condition in which inadequate charge or voltage is retained to enable function of a vehicle's starting system or inadequate power to accessories in an Electric Vehicle (EV) is disclosed. The method may calculate a plurality of respective prediction values using a plurality of respective algorithms, each of the plurality of respective algorithms using historical and current battery data. The method may also compute an overall confidence using the plurality of respective prediction values before also providing an indication of predicted battery failure or condition based on the computed overall confidence. Also disclosed are a computer implemented system and a computer program product having that function. The plurality of algorithms may comprise one or more of: a rule based algorithm; a random forests algorithm; a deep learning algorithm; and/or a support vector machine algorithm.
