The invention relates to a sensor device (1) for sensing a magnetic-field change, which is caused by an object approaching the sensor device (1) in a direction of motion or moving past the sensor device (1) in the direction of motion, wherein the sensor device (1) has at least one alternating-current-fed transmitting coil (10) and at least one receiving coil (20, 30). In order to enable a calibration of a reception voltage of the at least one receiving coil (20, 30) in a flexible and, at the same time, relatively simple and economical manner, a calibrating coil (40, 50), according to the invention, is provided in the region of the receiving coil (20, 30), wherein a reception voltage induced in the receiving coil (20, 30) by the transmitting coil (10) can be changed by changing the position of the calibrating coil (40, 50). The invention further relates to a method for calibrating a sensor device (1) for sensing a magnetic-field change.
