This implies increasing the magnitude of the stress cycle which is being applied, which in its turn implies increasing the temperature range. However there are a number of difficulties associated with this. The simplest way of increasing the temperature range would be to increase the maximum temperature in the cycle. Since the creep of the material is dependent upon the maximum temperature, however, this could cause excessive creep deformation and, as indicated earlier, this may effect the actual fatigue behaviour. It similarly affects the static strength of the material but this may not be so important.
