Review of reports of tests which were conducted on British, French and West German Railways to study possibility of use of synthetic brake blocks on railroad vehicles; results of tests carried out by French Nat Railways with number of composition brake blocks where initial speed was 60 or 120 km/hr; results showed that composition blocks offer many advantages over cast iron but rigorous tests are necessary before any type is accepted.
