Design objective and problems encountered during development program of OHV 6-cyl engine which has 3 in. bore and 4 in. stroke giving displacement of 170 cu in.; it delivers 154 lb-ft of torque at 2400 rpm and 112 bhp at 4400 rpm; cylinder block and head, manifolds, valve train, camshaft, and oil pump; performance and economy; chart shows comparison between 1960 and 1961 6-cyl Larks made over four different test routes with three available transmissions.
