Qualitative analyses of flow problems encountered while operating centrifugal compressor impellers, used with gas turbines, with transonic inlet and discharge Mach numbers; modifications used to reduce adverse effects of transonic flow phenomena, and comparative results of testing compressors with and without these modifications are presented.
