Turbines, alternators and propulsion motors developing total of 85,000 shp max at 147 rpm are being installed in new P. and O. flagship; normal service power is 68,000 shp at 137.5 rpm; steam conditions at turbine inlet are 700 psi and 950 F and condenser vacuum corresponding to service power is 28 1/2 in. Hg; machinery units, control console, and fault detection equipment are described and also shown in photographs.
