Numerical study of effects of blade cutout (varying from 0 to 0.5 of rotor radius) on power required by rotor traveling at tip-speed ratios of 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5; substantial reductions in profile-drag power were indicated when cutout was varied from 0 to 0.3 of radius.
