With exception of front-wheel-driven Alvis there was almost complete absence of novelty in front-axle design; only other example of independently sprung front wheels was well-established Lancia design; examples of I-section and tubular construction, and round section; springs attached beneath axle; tendency to provide lugs to accommodate brake shafts.
