Relative advantages and disadvantages of motor truck and railroad fields for freight transportation are discussed; statistics quoted; truck rates per ton-mile cannot be tapered with distance in same degree as can railroad rates; bulk of freight traffic in United States is in mass movements over long distances, and in that field railroad is economically supreme.
